SECURITY WITHOUT GUESSWORK

Why testing your setup and getting the right systems in place matters more than ever

We provide independent security reviews in Northern Ireland, focusing on CCTV, access control and real-world vulnerabilities…

Most businesses don’t think about security until something happens.

By then, you’re reacting.

Something’s gone missing.

Someone’s been on site who shouldn’t have been.

Or you check the footage… and it doesn’t show what you need it to.

That’s usually when people realise the problem isn’t that they don’t have security.

It’s that what’s there doesn’t actually work

.

WHAT WE’RE SEEING RIGHT NOW

Across Northern Ireland, overall crime is still relatively low. On paper, things look stable.

But underneath that, there’s a shift.

Shoplifting alone jumped from around 7,500 to nearly 9,000 incidents in a year. Retail is taking most of the hit, with close to 70 percent of businesses reporting some form of crime, mainly customer theft.

What stands out more is this:

A lot of it isn’t reported and a lot of it keeps happening to the same businesses.

That tells you everything you need to know.

It’s not one-off incidents, it’s gaps being used over and over again.

IT’S NOT ABOUT HAVING SECURITY

IT’S ABOUT WHETHER IT WORKS

Most sites already have something in place.

Cameras.

Access systems.

Alarms.

But when you actually look at them properly:

Cameras don’t cover the right areas, entrances are missed, lighting kills the footage at night or access control is loose or bypassed.

Or everything was installed years ago and never properly reviewed

It looks fine day to day.

But under pressure, it wouldn’t stand up.

TESTING AND SYSTEMS GO HAND IN HAND

This is where most people get it wrong.

They either:

Install systems without really understanding the risk:

Or

Get a review done that never turns into practical fixes

It has to be both.

You need to understand:

  • where the gaps are

  • how someone would actually move through your site

  • what your system would show you if something happened

Then you fix it properly.

Sometimes that means adjusting what’s already there.

Sometimes it means upgrading CCTV or tightening access control.

But it’s always based on reality, not guesswork.

WHY OUR APPROACH IS DIFFERENT

Coming up through the industry and working in higher-risk environments, you learn quickly that assumptions don’t last long.

You don’t look at what should work.

You look at:

What would actually happen here if someone wanted to get in

What would you actually see back on your system

What would you be left dealing with afterwards

PREVENTION IS STILL THE CHEAPEST OPTION

What we’re seeing locally isn’t dramatic.

It’s steady.

Repeat theft

Small breaches

Ongoing loss

That builds up.

Most businesses absorb it, write it off, move on.

Until it becomes a bigger problem.

A proper look at your setup now, and getting the right systems in place, usually costs far less than dealing with it later.

FINAL WORD

If your security hasn’t been properly looked at in a few years, there’s a fair chance it’s not doing what you think it is.

And right now, businesses are being tested more often than they realise.

Better to test it yourself, fix the gaps, and know where you stand.

At RH Consultancy, we don’t just look at security on paper.

We test it, we understand it, and where needed, we help you put the right systems in place to make it work properly.

We provide security reviews across Belfast, Lisburn, and throughout Northern Ireland.
